From July 26 to August 12, 2016 in a cozy Loft at Malaya Ordynka (str. Malaya Ordynka, 25, Moscow, Russia) owned by our wonderful friend Helen Marshall, an exhibition had been held, which was first presented photos from the project #Seagull, as well as first-run documentaries and feature short films from the Project.
Many thanks to Elena and her team for their help in organizing the event and exhibition design. Thank you, Elena, everything had been done highly professionally!
A feature story in 8/16 Unterwasser Diving Magazine
Few years ago scientists had some worries about big amounts of algae, which had been never part of the Baikal lake biosphere. The alien algae grew year by year and now it seized almost the whole part of the lake shore, up to depth of 40 m. The whys of it is a result of growing touristic activity and absence of normal water and waste water facilities.
The main problem is not the algae by itself, but the changes it started in the shallow waters. There are hundreds of endemic species living in Baikal are now threatened and may disappear within several years.
The planet will still have the lake as a reservoir of the fresh water, but as unique water body with unique life we may lost it forever.
We are happy to present to you the video from our #Seagull Project. Many thanks to those who had helped to create it: those who were part of the team, and those who supported our project on the crowdfunding site Boomstarter, those who help with post-production (absolutely for completely free), and those who visited us on the quarry for the weekend and helped both under water and on the surface, and those who just sometimes pleased us with cakes and hot tea in a thermos. “Museum of one picture” is an exhibition which has started in the framework of the Festival of Contemporary Photography at Moscow Exhibition Center, pavilion №59 “Grain”. The exhibition is represented by the only one photograph: the work by Viktor Lyagushkin “We are of one blood.”
This is a picture from the project “Princess of Whales”, on which the two-time champion and world record holder Natalie Avseenko swims with beluga whales under the ice of the White Sea.
On our photo to this post Natalie stands herself beside this remarkable photograph.
We are very proud of the publication of the splendid Viktor Lyagushkin’s photograph of the Blue Lake (Caucasus, Russia) in all local editions of National Geographic Magazine in the section Visions of Earth. Will try to collect all the international issues!
We were very touched to find on Twitter a poem inspired by one of Viktor’s photographs with Natalie Avseenko posing under the ice of the White sea. It’s amazing how accurate the author Shay Lee (@shayoflee) feels the spirit of the picture and we are so glad that our work inspires others. Thank you, Shay Lee!
Some ideas are very inspiring. So Viktor Lyagushkin’s Princess of Whales do. Moscow artist Irina Ratina created her vision of a naked woman swimming with white whales.

Congratulations to Viktor Lyagushkin with publication in the VIEW Magazine. Editors featured one of his stunning photographs from the Third Element Project displaying bright weird pattern of the walls of the labyrinth of Sylvinite mine located at depth -400 m (Urals, Russia). Sylvinite was well known from the middle ages but its real value was discovered in 20th century. Potassium fertilisers produced of the sylvinite saved many countries of famine and crop failure.
